Campaigns of the Month10 min read

This month’s advertising roundup has it all, from inflatable insurance holders to heartfelt coffee moments, May certainly brought the weird and wonderful, along with some much-needed sunshine. So, without further ado, let’s (toilet) roll.
Andrex – 'First School Poo'
Yes, you read that right. Andrex is tackling one of childhood’s most hushed milestones: the dreaded first school poo. The campaign is adorably earnest, with a hilariously heartfelt mission to encourage kids to feel confident doing the business away from home. It’s surprisingly emotional and refreshingly honest. Toilet humour with a purpose.
Costa – 'Made with Heart'
Costa Coffee’s brewing up more than just flat whites with its new campaign, ‘Made with Heart’. The campaign leans into the emotional side of coffee, positioning it as the unsung hero of modern life. We’re probably a bit biased as we love the stuff, but I think most people would agree that a good coffee can solve most problems.
Launching with two heartfelt hero films, the stories capture a student leaving home for university and a couple on opposite shifts – all united by one constant: a Costa Coffee that says, I’m thinking of you. Lovely.
Confused.com – 'Just Used Confused'
Ever felt so relieved after buying insurance that you could float? Me neither. But, Confused.com ran with that feeling in any case. In this surreal spot from Leo Burnett, everyday folk inflate and float to the ceiling post-insurance win, only to be tugged back to earth by life’s less joyful moments. It’s a visual metaphor meets deadpan comedy and somehow turns the dullest life admin into a strangely relatable piece of joy.
Tesco F&F – 'Style It Out'
F&F are on a mission to prove you can face life’s little humiliations. Shot by iconic filmmaker Alex Prager, the campaign blends cinematic flair with fashion realness, showing that style isn’t about being flawless, it’s about owning your flaws in a banging outfit. Tesco just got a whole lot cooler.
OVO – 'Do Energy Differently'
Energy bills are dull, stressful, and confusing – unless you’re OVO, who turned the power struggle into a puppet show. Its latest ad features rogue appliances running riot while a family descends into domestic chaos. Enter OVO: calm, collected and full of smart tech that gives control back to the people. It’s part performance art, part public service announcement, and 100% a reminder that energy can be empowering when handled right.
Well, this month’s campaigns reminded us that great storytelling isn’t afraid to get weird, wild and wonderful. Whether you’re floating with joy, running from washing machines or wheeling to the toilet, the best ads turn everyday chaos into memorable, meaningful moments. As always, if you’re looking for an agency to partner with to create award-winning campaigns, get in touch.
