Welcome to another Campaigns of the Month round up! I know what you’re thinking, isn’t every brand just putting out Christmas ads at the moment? Well, you’re almost right. But you’ll have to wait until December for our complete review of (most of) those. Instead, enjoy our selection of the best non-Christmas campaigns November had to offer.
Adidas x C.P. Company – Spezial 10th anniversary.
We’re a sucker for a Spezial campaign here, especially one featuring some of our favourite cult British icons, so we were stoked to see the new collab from Adidas and C.P. Company. Adidas has reunited with the Italian sportswear brand for an exciting new collection, marking the 10th anniversary of the Spezial. The campaign stars Adidas collector Robert Brooks, jeweller Toby Mclellan, music producer Goldie and actors Ashley Walters and Stephen Graham reciting Shakespeare inside a theatre. I mean, what’s not to love
Beats by Dre – ‘Nothing Ordinary About Erling Haaland’.
We’re all for trying something different and this latest campaign from Beats by Dre does just that. The headphone brand’s playful ad celebrates the rather unconventional training methods of Norwegian football sensation Erling Haaland. Set against the stunning backdrop of Norway’s dramatic fjords and forests, the spot explores Haaland’s quirky and almost superhuman approach to training, as well as his love of nature. With Edvard Grieg’s iconic ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ as its soundtrack, the ad offers a charming glimpse into the world of the Manchester City and Norway striker.
Jaguar – ‘Copy Nothing’.
Not every campaign that makes our monthly round-up is universally liked by us or the industry, so we couldn’t possibly exclude the recent Jaguar campaign. A lot has been said already, but if there’s one thing everyone can agree on about the car manufacturer’s recent rebrand, it’s that it definitely got everyone talking. Whether you like it or not, the total deviation from where it’s been before has garnered headline upon headline (not all of them positive), making it one of the most hotly debated campaigns in recent years. If you haven’t already seen it, we’ll let you decide for yourself.
Co-op – ‘Proper Sound’.
Finally, we couldn’t finish without giving a nod to Co-op Live’s latest campaign featuring The Bard of Salford, John Cooper Clarke. In this rousing film, we see Cooper Clarke delivering a specially written verse in his signature punk style, celebrating Manchester, its people and the city’s newest entertainment venue. If you didn’t know, the Co-op was founded in nearby Rochdale and the brand’s headquarters are in Manchester, which gives the words in Cooper Clarke’s poem even more weight. Love it!
I don’t know about you, but I’d say November could be one of the strongest months of the year for simple but stellar campaigns. Come back in December for our festive roundup and keep your eyes peeled in January for the ultimate Campaigns of the Year list for 2024. In the meantime, give us a holler if you’ve got a creative brief for us to tackle.
