Closing date: 1st March 2024

A bit about us

We’re an award-winning creative agency in Manchester that specialises in branding, digital and multi-channel marketing and advertising campaigns.

We help brands all around the world engage with their audiences in meaningful and memorable ways at every touchpoint – physically, digitally & virtually.

Founded by brothers Ted and Olly Holden along with their late father Peter, our history dates back to the advertising heydays.

But today Holdens is more than just a name, it’s a mindset. A restless curiosity, a relentless pursuit of big ideas and a reverence for all things creative.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate 3D & Motion Designer who’ll bring creative excellence, technological innovation and the very highest production values across all areas of their work. Not asking for a lot, we know.

With a minimum of three years’ 3D and motion design experience, either agency side or client side (we’re not picky), you’ll have the best CGI and motion design skills around and the ability to lead on multiple projects in a fast-paced and, some might say, unconventional studio environment.

It goes without saying, but you must have a love of good design, an eye for the timeless but a nose for what’s new and trending too. We’re also after someone with an attention to detail and realism that’s second to none, especially when working with images at high resolutions.

Without teaching you to suck eggs, we’ll need you to be hands-on with all areas of CGI and 3D design, from texturing, shader creation and scene lighting to rendering and compositing. Video editing skills are also a must, as you’ll be working on a variety of integrated CGI and live-action video projects, as well as 3D and 2D motion design and animation.

We work with a real mix of clients, so you’ll get the opportunity to cut your teeth on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors, but with a particular focus on travel and tourism, property and placemaking, leisure and hospitality and retail and lifestyle. You’ll also work collaboratively with the whole of our multi-disciplinary team, as well as our global network of freelancers, friends and creative partners.

What skills you’ll need

  • Minimum of three years experience working in 3D, CGI and motion design, ideally with a relevant degree
  • Expertise in Cinema 4D (or alternative), Houdini (or alternative), Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro
  • Experience in working to defined processes and technical standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced studio environment
  • Proven record of meeting deadlines while maintaining the highest quality of delivery
  • A reliable and safe pair of hands with meticulous attention to detail and consistent quality of output
  • A positive and enthusiastic individual who responds constructively to new ideas and feedback
  • A confident communicator who can clearly convey ideas and lead team collaboration
  • A team player who actively supports and develops others to meet a common goal
  • A curious mindset that’s always seeking to innovate, improve output and lead more efficient ways of working
  • A constant desire to develop and expand their knowledge of 3D, CGI and motion design
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and impeccable time management
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A passion for the industry and what you do.

What you’ll be doing

  • Take the lead on full-cycle 3D, CGI and motion design projects from client briefings, ideation and pitching through to art directing, concepting, production and final delivery
  • Be hands-on with 3D and CGI design, asset and product modelling, texturing, shader creation, scene lighting, rendering and compositing
  • Also be hands-on with 3D and 2D motion design and animation, video editing and post-production
  • Collaborate closely with the client, creative and project management teams and any external freelancers or partners
  • Deliver all projects to the highest quality, ensuring our creative standards are consistently maintained
  • Bring innovation to the creative and technological output of the agency, keeping abreast of new and emerging 3D, CGI and motion design tools, trends and techniques.

Some other important bits

We ask a lot of our people, so we like to give a lot back. Because we’re only as good as the individuals in our team and it’s crucial every single one of us is at the top of our game.

So whether it’s motion design, mentoring or meditation you need help with, we’ve always got you covered.
