Steadplan is a leading commercial vehicle dealership offering sales, leasing, maintenance and conversions. With dealerships across the north of England, they provide a complete commercial vehicle solution all under one roof. The Steadplan Group was established by the Smith family in 1983 and since 2015 has been owned by Jim Smith. He brought us on board to take Steadplan in a new direction with a full rebrand and a new website.
With a clear vision of where they wanted to take the brand, we set to work on defining Steadplan’s brand positioning and DNA.
After getting to know Jim and the Steadplan team, we kicked things off by holding a brand workshop to understand their ambitions for the rebrand and to get a better idea of what they wanted to achieve from it. With a clear vision of where they wanted to take the brand, we set to work on defining Steadplan’s brand positioning and DNA.
Once we established the DNA, we began to develop a new brand identity for Steadplan. The name had stayed the same since the 80s so carried a lot of value and recognition in the industry. We felt this was key when it came to developing the brand’s visual identity too.
The Steadplan team were very keen on having a logo mark, something that was modern and easily recognisable.
The mark we created consists of two shapes that combine to create an S and a P. It can be duplicated multiple times to create a tyre tread pattern, which is used throughout the brand language to signify the fact they are an automotive service. The logo mark is accompanied by a contemporary sans serif font to give the full logo a crisp look and feel.
We wanted to break away from the standard colours used by Steadplan’s competitors. A deep, vibrant orange is complemented with charcoal, lightning yellow and bright violet to truly diversify the brand and make it stand out in the market, which can be seen in the roll out and collateral we created from stationery and merch to the vehicle wraps.
The logo can be duplicated multiple times to create a tyre tread pattern, which is used throughout the brand language.
Finally, we brought the brand to life in the form of a slick and highly visual website, producing a brand video that focuses on Steadplan’s dealerships, vans and the services they offer.
Along with the video, we spent two days shooting brand new photography, which is used throughout the website to give it a much more premium feel.
The brand was publicly unveiled at an event in September, met with universal praise. Steadplan is a proud sponsor of various motor racing teams and sporting individuals in the UK, which were all in attendance to see the new brand in all its glory. The day was a huge success, with trucks and vans freshly wrapped in the new branding, free food and drinks, as well as lots of newly-branded Steadplan freebies given away.
With a content marketing and social media strategy currently in the works, we’re really looking forward to continuing our work with Steadplan for many years to come and can’t wait to see where the brand goes next.
